The Sandpoint Lions Club, which has done wonderful things for Sandpoint, has strangely denied permission for two groups, 350Sandpoint and Sandpoint Indivisible, to march in this year’s Fourth of July parade. The reason is that they represent political protest. The Lions Club is apparently nervous about what they consider wacko groups ruining the parade. These two groups are about as wacko as the Republican and Democratic parties (yes, I know) that are allowed in the parade. Fourth of July is about acknowledging our debt to the wackos who dared stand up to the world power that denied parade rights to our Founding Fathers.

To show your disapproval of this silly denial in Sandpoint, either boycott the parade (No, that wouldn’t do because our kids need the spectacle and fun) or better, create your own protest sign and join the parade as our forefathers did. Just be sure to exit before the redcoats nab you.
