PL water study open house set

COOLIN — The public is invited to attend an informational meeting later this month for the Priest Lake water management study.

The study was initiated by the Idaho Department of Water Resources Board to evaluate opportunities for improving the operation of the Priest Lake and Priest River system.

The meeting will be held Thursday, July 20, at the Priest Lake Groomers & Ambulance Building, 4677 Dickensheet Rd. Stop by the open house anytime between 2-5 p.m., view the display materials, and talk to project representatives. No formal presentation is scheduled.

The purpose of the study is two-fold:

- Preserving lake levels through the recreational season. This goal supports the local economy and meets current lake level requirements. It also avoids any negative impacts to downstream river flows.

- Maintain marine access through the Thorofare channel between Upper Priest Lake and Lower Priest Lake.

The public will also have an opportunity to leave written comments at the meeting.

The study is being conducted by Mott MacDonald in Edmonds, Wash.
