Clarence Irving Davis, 86, a lifelong resident of the Algoma/Sagle, Idaho, area passed away on July 10, 2017.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, July 14, at North Summit (formerly the First Christian Church on Division Avenue). Pastor Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God will be officiating.

Clarence was born on June 25, 1931, to Luther and Mattie Davis. He was the oldest of three children, brother Aaron (Roberta) Davis and sister Juanita (Les) Sterritt.

Clarence married Lois Eich on Nov. 7, 1952. They have three children, Jim Davis, Larry Davis and Melissa Tucker; nine grandchildren Adrian, Justin, Shauna, Christopher, Savannah, Jeremy, Tanya, Bob and Clarence; and 25 great-grandchildren.

During Clarence’s lifetime he had many great accomplishments that he was proud of. He served with the Army from November 1952 to 1954. His jobs ranged from hand mining uranium, logging and the construction of the Noxon Dam.

Clarence and Lois owned and operated the Korner Café and trailer park, which became a corner stone of the greater area of Sagle and Algoma for 20 years, resulting in the growth of lifelong friendships of many people who became as important as family. After the closing of the Korner Store they bought Sayers’s Jewelers, starting downtown Sandpoint then moving to the mall in Ponderay.

Clarence was also a local member of the Elk’s Club becoming the Grand Exalted Ruler for two terms.

He was also a coach and a mentor along with friends Karl Berg, Iz LeFabvre, and Mike Plaster for the Elk’s Amateur Boxing Club to a group of young men, of which they were all very proud of.

Clarence’s hobbies were hunting in the St. Joe, and traveling with Lois. He had travelled around the world, with Lois, seeing such sights as the Panama Canal, Australia, Europe, the Bahamas, Aruba, Hawaii and Mexico, making friends in every port.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mattie Davis.
