Local woman killed in crash

HAYDEN — A Sandpoint woman was killed after her vehicle collided with a semi on Highway 95 near Hayden Saturday morning, according to Idaho State Police.

According to ISP, Samantha Wolf, 31, of Sandpoint, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes in a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe when her vehicle collided with a 2017 Freightliner semi truck headed northbound. The semi truck was driven by Samarpal Khaira, 23, of Alberta.

The crash was reported at 3:06 a.m. at milepost 443 north of Hayden. 

Khaira had a passenger, Purewal Sukhpreet, 31, of Alberta, who was in the sleeper cab and was not wearing a seatbelt. Wolf and Khaira were wearing seat belts, according to ISP. Wolf was pronounced deceased on scene and both occupants of the semi were transported to Kootenai Health. 

The investigation is ongoing.
