Barbara Edith Scott, 82, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Barbara lived a long life of hard work, adventure and fun. She was born in Yakima, Wash., on June 29, 1935, to Harold and Edith (Williams) Miller. She had a younger sister, JoAnn. They were two peas in a pod.

Barbara and JoAnn were talented musicians and singers. Showcasing their talent first at church, and then outdoors on street corners singing gospel music in various locations around Yakima. Barbara taught herself to play piano by ear, and was quite good at playing anything. Barbara eventually settled on her instrument of choice, the bass guitar. She worked during the day at Weisfields Jewelers in Yakima and by night, played in various country bands in the Yakima Valley. She was also enjoyed league and tournament bowling. In 1969, Barbara and her three children moved to Sandpoint, with her mother. She continued to play music in country bands in the North Idaho area as time allowed.

Barbara met the love of her life, Don Scott, in 1975. They were married in April 1976. Together they enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and friendly poker games with friends. Barbara retired from the state of Idaho in the mid -1980s. She enjoyed sprucing up her home and hosting dinner parties to showcase her newest recipe.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Don Scott; her sister, JoAnn; and her mother, Edith. She is survived by three children, Bruce (Kelly) Menard of Olympia, Wash., Kyle (Gloria) Menard of Panama City, Fla., and Lisa (Ray) Brown of Wellsville, N.Y.; four grandchildren and 2 3/4 great-grandchildren.
