Seven compelling reasons to park it this week

| July 21, 2017 1:00 AM

As if you need a good reason to go to the park in the summer, here are a few more. You could literally visit the park every day this week just by following this list:

1. Movies in the Park — The Bonner County Historical Museum shows a free screening of Disney’s “Moana” at Lakeview Park today at 6:30 p.m. Visit their website for details.

2. Farmers’ Market — Food, fun, art, music (Beth Pederson & Betsy Hammet perform tomorrow) and the Bookmobile too! There are never two markets the same at Farmin Park on Saturdays.

3. Storytime in the Park — The Library’s Mother Goose and Preschool Storytime programs hit the park (Travers Park) this month on Tuesdays at 10: 15 and 11 a.m. respectively.

4. STEM in the Park — Part of The Library’s “Build A Better World” themed Summer Reading initiative. Each week kids learn a new useful skill at Travers Park.

5. Family Star Party — The park at night is a beautiful sight! Extend bed time to join us for star gazing fun with astronomer, Sandy Nichols at Travers Park.

6. Solar Eclipse: An Observer’s Guide — Prepare in advance to get the most out of your eclipse viewing experience with help from the Spokane Astronomical Society at Travers Park.

7. StoryWalk — Go it alone, or bring the family to any of the three StoryWalk locations to read, breathe fresh air, and get a little exercise.

Studies show that people who visit local parks feel more connected to their community. Take advantage of these opportunities to enjoy summer, engage your brain, and connect to our community.
