Program to improve running speed offered in Sandpoint

| June 1, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Any and all area residents ages 13 years-old and up are encouraged to join Dan Chamberlain and Fallout Fitness for a Level 1 certified Speed Clinic on June 19-21 at Travers Park.

This clinic will focus on making you a faster runner. Over the course of this three day program, participants will gain an understanding of sprinting, acceleration and deceleration mechanics. Your 40 yard dash will be tested at the beginning and again at the end of the program to see your improvement.

Participants should bring water, a light snack, appropriate clothing and cleats if they have them. Each day will involve a large amount of sprinting as well as instruction, so make sure you are well rested beforehand.

The class meets from 2-4:30 p.m. each day at Travers Park. The class fee is $150. City of Sandpoint residents receive a $5 discount.

Register by June 7 to guarantee your spot in the class. To register, or for other activities offered by Parks and Rec, visit their web catalog at www.sandpoint.gov/parksrecreation, or visit the Parks and Rec office located at 1123 Lake St.
