Registration now underway for youth summer tennis classes

SANDPOINT — If you haven’t already, now is the time to sign up for the Sandpoint Parks and Rec youth summer tennis classes, which start on June 13. To sign up, or for more information, visit www.sandpoint.gov/parksrecreation, or come by the Parks and Rec office in person at 1123 Lake St. Partial scholarships are available on a need basis.

Each age group listed below has multiple sessions offered to best fit your dates. Sessions will fill up fast, so register early to guarantee your spot.

n Tennis for Tiny Tots (Ages 4-5)

Special training techniques and toys will be used to keep our Tiny Tots smiling and having fun. Note that the class size is very limited, with six kids per session max and minimum of two. Lessons are held at Lakeview Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8-8:45 a.m. The class fee is $12 (city $2 discount).

Session No. 1: Tuesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 15.

Session No. 3: June 27 and 29.

Session No. 4: Wednesday, July 5 and Friday, July 7.

Session No. 5: July 11 and 13.

Session No. 7: July 25 and 27.

n Tennis for Hot Hitters (Ages 6-7)

Hot Hitters will enjoy training with age appropriate techniques, toys and a healthy dose of fun. Lessons are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 9–10 a.m. The class fee is $23 (City $3 discount).

Session No. 1: Monday-Thursday, June 12-15.

Session No. 3: June 26-29.

Session No. 4: July 3, 5, 6 and 7.

Session No. 5: July 10-13.

Session No. 7: July 24-27.

n Tennis for Beginner Youth (Ages 8-12)

These lessons introduce beginner players to sound tennis fundamentals. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 10–11 a.m. The class fee is $23 (City $3 discount).

Session No. 1: June 12-15.

Session No. 3: June 26-29.

Session No. 4: July 3, 5, 6 and 7.

Session No. 5: July 10-13.

Session No. 7: July 24-27.

n Tennis for Intermediate Youth (Ages 8-12)

These lessons teach fundamentals, strategy and play to intermediate players. Beginning lessons or play experience is required. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m.-noon. The class fee is $23 (City $3 discount).

Session No. 1: June 12-15.

Session No. 3: June 26-29.

Session No. 4: July 3, 5, 6 and 7.

Session No. 5: July 10-13.

Session No. 7: July 24-27.

n Tennis Teen Skill Development (Middle School and High School JV players)

These summer tennis sessions are designed for middle school or high school age players, with previous experience, to build upon basic fundamentals, to improve their game, and take it to the next level. Players will work on stroke refinement, movement on the court and strategy. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday from noon–1 p.m. The class fee is $23 (City $3 discount).

Session No. 3: June 26-29.

Session No. 5: July 10-13.

Session No. 7: July 24-27.

n Tennis Intensive Skill Development (High School Varsity players)

This summer session is for High School age players who have considerable playing experience. Participants will work on stroke refinement, movement, strategy and what it takes to be a winning varsity player. All sessions are held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, from noon-1 p.m. (Min/max: 2/12 kids per session) and the class fee is $23 (City $3 discount).
