ICF announces $190,000 in N. Idaho grants

The Idaho Community Foundation’s Northern Region Competitive Grants Panel has selected 62 north Idaho nonprofit organizations to receive more than $190,000 through its annual competitive grant cycle.

Grant recipients are from Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce and Shoshone counties.

This year’s recipients from Bonner and Boundary counties are:

Bonner County

- Bonner Community Food Center, Inc. — $2,300 to purchase non-perishable healthy foods for families

- Bonner County Emergency Medical Services — $1,500 to purchase medical equipment

- Community Cancer Services — $1,000 to help provide financial assistance to medically under-served cancer clients in Bonner and Boundary counties

- East Bonner County Free Library District — $5,000 to provide critical early literacy, skills development and lifelong learning opportunities to community members of all ages

- Memorial Community Center, Inc. — $2,000 to build storage cabinets for tables and equipment

- Panhandle Alliance for Education Inc. — $5,000 to purchase READY! for Kindergarten parent tool kits

- Priest River Ministries Inc. — $5,000 to provide immediate and long-term care to women and children affected by domestic abuse, sexual assault and trafficking

- West Bonner County Food Bank, Inc. — $2,500 to redo electrical wiring to come into compliance with Bonneville Power Administration easement

- West Bonner County School District #83 — $1,950 to compensate a dance instructor and purchase a CD player for the high school dance program

- West Bonner County School District #83 — $3,000 to purchase books for students in grades K-6 at Idaho Hill Elementary

- West Bonner Library District — $1,000 to purchase a hexagonal six-person computer station and chairs for the Blanchard Branch Library

Boundary County

- Boundary County 4-H — $3,205 to pay for volunteer background checks, reimburse volunteers for mileage and provide support materials and resources for activities

- Boundary County Habitat for Humanity — $2,500 to finish House #10 in Boundary County

- Curley Creek Volunteer Fire District Inc. — $2,400 to purchase two truck-based radio transceivers

- Trinity Lutheran Church, Inc of Bonners Ferry — $5,000 to purchase three-day weekend supplemental food kits for school-age children served by the Boundary County Backpacks program
