SANDPOINT — Jacob Cometto and Billy Brackett each had three hits to lead the Sandpoint U19 Post 15 team to a 10-4 win over the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen recently in American Legion Baseball Single A action.

Brackett finished with two doubles and drove in three runs, Sydney Bottomley added two doubles and Tyler Lehman two hits, backing a strong pitching performance from Tristan Authier, Preston Pettit and Thomas Riley. Riley struck out four in two innings to close out the game.

Riley added an RBI trile, Caleb Edlund an RBI double as Sandpoint (2-1) pounded out 12 hits on the day, with Austin Greene and Garrett Connolly also picking up RBIs.

“It’s really a lot of fun watching this group of young men play the game. They have remained dedicated to the program and put in a lot of hard work over the years to reach the level that they are currently playing at,” praised Sandpoint coach Ken Oler. “They 100 percent deserve the success they are having.“

After wins against Coeur d’Alene and Moscow, Post 15 will face rival Lakeland Northstars today, with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. at Pine St. Field.
