I would like to acknowledge Dory McIsaac of Mystic Farm Wildlife Rescue in Sagle.

I recently received a frantic call from my neighbor regarding an “abandoned fawn” on their property. I assured her that it was not abandoned, I also told her that its mom had hidden it and will return. My neighbor was not convinced in what I was telling her and wanted to intervene. I told her that I would put her in touch with a wildlife educator. That’s when I put a call into Dory. She immediately called my neighbor to advise and instruct her on the proper protocol in this situation. The fawn was still in the same spot for 2 1/2 days before the doe moved it on to a new location.

I want to thank Dory of Mystic Farm Wildlife Rescue for her expertise and finesse in handling this situation. There are people out there with good intentions when they see a baby animal without its mom. My advice is to educate yourself on our local animal behavior and leave them alone.
