Synchronized swimming classes on tap at City Beach

| June 22, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Come and try the newest water activity offering at the City Beach, as Synchronized Swimming classes are offered for anyone from 9 years-old to adult, starting on July 11 and running through Aug. 15 at City Beach.

If you like dancing, gymnastics and swimming, this activity combines them all. It uses the grace of dance and the power of gymnastics in the water to perform fun skills like somersaults, walkovers, oysters, torpedo sculls and more. Goggles and nose plugs recommended.

Prerequisites are that participants must be age 9 years or older and have the ability to competently float, submerge in deep water, and swim 25 meters with each stroke — front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke.

Classes are every Tuesday, from 4-5 p.m. at the City Beach Deep Dock (east of the Snack Shack). The class fee is $40/session ($5 in-city discount). There is a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 participants in this class, so register early to get your spot.

The online registration deadline is June 30. To register, go to www.sandpointidaho.gov/parksrecreation.

For more info on this and other activities, call Sandpoint Parks and Rec at 263-3613, or visit them at City Hall (1123 Lake St.).
