Pierce Auto Sales is happy to announce the recipients of college scholarships that they are awarding to four 2017 graduating high school seniors. This is the second year of the company’s scholarship program.

When asked what criteria they used to choose the recipients, Nick Pierce said the students must be on the honor roll to apply and then go through an extensive application process.

“My wife, Ali, and I spent most of one weekend going through 50-60 applications before making this year’s choices,” Pierce said. “We chose two young men and two young women from a very impressive group of applicants. It wasn’t an easy choice but these young people stood out.”

Jeralyn Mire, Sandpoint High Schools post-secondary transition counselor says “Pierce Auto Sales gets a big shout out from those of us in the educational community.? They were planning on sponsoring two scholarships one boy and one girl but were so impressed with the quality of applicants they decided instead to ?fund four scholarships. Pierce’s support is very much appreciated.”

One of the scholarship recipient’s, Lauren Sfeir, said she will be using the scholarship to help fund her education at Whitworth University, where she will be headed in the fall to major in journalism and mass communication with two minors in visual communication and film & visual narrative.

“I want to be able to eventually be a photojournalist for a nature magazine or get into the documentary aspect of storytelling. So basically, visual journalism is my future career goal,” Sfeir said.
