Join Idaho Gives and help our community

| May 2, 2017 1:00 AM

If the nonprofit agencies in our community closed their doors tomorrow, would we really notice a difference? With over 100 registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in Bonner County alone, the consequences would be devastating! These organizations support kids, families, seniors, animals, the arts, education, the environment and so much more.

Think about how the Selkirk Conservation Alliance protects Priest Lake for generations to come, or how the library is bursting at the seams providing programs and resources to every age and demographic, or that when someone is making trips back and forth for cancer treatments, Community Cancer Services is there to help with gas cards, food vouchers and encouragement.

Nonprofit organizations bring immeasurable value to our community and we must work together to support these organizations and the work they do. And that is why I am encouraging everyone to make a donation on May 4, Idaho Gives day.

Idaho Gives is the 24-hour online giving campaign for ANY Idaho nonprofit that has signed up to participate. Go to www.IdahoGives.org on or before May 4 and search the list of participating nonprofits by county or by cause.

The minimum gift is only $10, which is less than what I spent at Starbucks this morning, and the best part is that the donations directly benefit the organization you choose.

There will be many golf tournaments and spaghetti dinners that you can enjoy attending, but I hope you will join me in supporting nonprofits from the comfort of your own home, or office chair, by making a quick online donation at IdahoGives.org.

Let’s take care of the people in our community and show the rest of the state how strong we are here in the North! It all starts at midnight on May 4.
