SANDPOINT — Almost four months after being shot in the line of duty, Bonner County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Gagnon is back on the job.

Gagon and fellow Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Justin Penn were both shot while serving an arrest warrant in Blanchard and were critically injured. After undergoing surgery, Penn was released after a few days and Gagnon was hospitalized for a week before his release.

BCSO officials announced Friday afternoon that Gagnon had received a full medical release to return to duty and will begin patrolling Bonner County on Sunday. Penn remains on medical leave and is scheduled for more surgeries and physical therapy before his expected return to duty.

A full story will be published Saturday.
