Bulldogs fill up finals at 4A Region 1 Tennis Championships

MOSCOW — It was a strong showing for the Bulldog tennis team on Friday during day one of the 4A Region 1 tennis championships at the University of Idaho courts in Moscow.

The Bulldogs have someone in the finals of all five brackets, which will take place today. The winner of the final earns a spot in state, while the loser drops down to the consolation of the true-double elimination tournament, where the top two finishers in each bracket advance to state.

Juan Dorado won 6-3, 6-2 over Lakeland, after falling to his Hawks opponent last week.

“Juan was on fire today in a revenge match against the Lakeland No. 1,” said Bulldogs head coach Kent Anderson, noting Juan will face the No. 1 seed next. “Tomorrow’s final against Moscow will be a war.”

Allura Livingston was also impressive in girls singles, swinging her way into the finals with a strong all-around game.

For Laney Search and Khloe Kyllonen, today’s final will most likely serve as the final tune-up before what they hope is a good run at state in girls doubles.

The same can be said for Patrick Rockwell and Jacob Jackson, who handled their business and will be looking to punch their ticket to state by taking the short path with a win.

The last two Bulldogs in the finals are Liz Parsley and Koen Connor in mixed doubles, where consistency proved the difference in a tough semi.

“Liz’s ground strokes were almost perfect,” described Anderson. “Koen moved the ball to the corners like a surgeon. We’re in the finals in every event tomorrow.”

Charlie Crane and Tessa Beeman are still alive in the mixed doubles draw, April and Amy Clark are alive in the girls doubles consolation, and Alana Seifert is alive in girls singles.

The championship and consolation finals take place today in Moscow.
