Elsaesser honored for achievements

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Bankruptcy Institute announces that Ford Elsaesser of the law firm Elsaesser Jarzabek Anderson Elliott & Macdonald, Chtd. is the recipient ABI’s 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.

ABI’s highest award recognizes the recipient’s sustained and deep commitment to the leadership and governance of the organization. An ABI member since 1986 and a former ABI president and chairman, Elsaesser received the Lifetime Achievement Award during ABI’s 35th Annual Spring Meeting, which took place April 20-23, 2017, in Washington, D.C.

Elsaesser is senior partner at Elsaesser Jarzabek Anderson Elliott & Macdonald, which has offices in Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint. He primarily practices in bankruptcy, commercial and corporate law, and serves as a chapter 7 trustee, chapter 12 trustee and receiver. Elsaesser has been involved in five cases involving Catholic Dioceses and religious orders. He is a 1977 graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law and serves as an adjunct professor with the LL.M. Program in Bankruptcy at St. John’s University School of Law. He also teaches bankruptcy, advanced bankruptcy and federal courts at the Univer-sity of Idaho College of Law. Elsaesser successfully argued against the practice of routine vacatur of decisions made pending appeal in the U.S. Supreme Court case of U.S. Bancorp Mortgage Co. v. Bonner Mall Partnership, No. 93-714, in November 1994.
