7B Women, Inc. launches as nonprofit

| May 17, 2017 1:00 AM

The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the launching of a new nonprofit organization. 7B Women, formerly a committee of the Chamber, has now evolved into a stand-alone organization.

Over the course of the last year, 7B Women has organized various fundraisers to benefit nonprofit organizations in the community. Beneficiaries of the funds raised include the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women, Celebrate Life and Community Cancer Services.

“Over time we witnessed the difference the events were making in the lives of those in the community, and as a result our mission has evolved to include more philanthropy,” said Kim Diercks, president of 7B Women. “Because of this, our committee recently voted to establish our own nonprofit organization, 7B Women, Inc.”

7B Women, Inc. will continue hosting monthly luncheons the first Tuesday of each month at Tango Café.

“We will still focus on networking and education through our monthly luncheons and will also host an annual conference, which will likely be held in February,” said Diercks.

“I think it’s great when a group of dedicated individuals get together to support our community and really make a difference,” said Kate McAlister, president/CEO of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. “We wish them all the best with their future fundraising efforts, and we are proud to say they got their start with the chamber of commerce.”

Since 7B Women, Inc. will no longer be a committee of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and will be a stand-alone organization, the pay structure for the luncheons will differ slightly from before. Please visit 7BWomen.com for more information.

The group will also continue with its luncheon raffles where businesses or individuals who want a “minute with the mic” can provide an item to be raffled off as part of the meeting.

Coming up on June 15 at Tango Café is the second annual 7B Women’s Clothing Swap, which will again benefit Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women. The second Boobs ‘n’ Beer 5K fun run is scheduled for Oct. 1 and will benefit Celebrate Life and Community Cancer Services.

Stay tuned for more information on events, luncheons and how you can get involved and make a difference in the lives of those in our community.

The chamber also has a number of events coming up this summer including Summer Sampler on June 29 in Farmin Park, the chamber’s 12th annual kick off to summer along with the Litehouse Inc. Chef Competition; Beerfest on July 8 and our 9th annual Scenic Half Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 17.
