Audition date announced for Festival at Sandoint's Community Orchestra

All instrumentalists — students, amateurs, professionals — are invited to audition for The Festival at Sandpoint’s Community Orchestra.

This orchestra will perform at the Festival’s Family Concert, Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Memorial Field.

Conductor Gary Sheldon will lead an exciting program “The Frog Prince,” with music by Jules Massenet and original choreography by Marc Speilberger.

Auditions for percussion, brass, winds and strings will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and Alder, in Sandpoint on Tuesday, May 30, at 4 p.m. and Wednesday, May 31, at 4 p.m. Contact Beth Weber at 208-263-1151 to set up a specific audition time with Maestro Gary Sheldon.

Bring whatever repertoire you’d like to play. Persons unable to attend at this time may audition via video recording. Contact Beth Weber for more information.

The orchestra will be divided into two groups for the concert: The Chamber Orchestra will include more advanced musicians for certain selections of the program and the full orchestra will include other eligible musicians.

Rehearsals will be Friday, Aug. 4, and Saturday, Aug. 5,. Dress rehearsal and performance are on Sunday, Aug. 6, with a pizza lunch, compliments of the Festival. All volunteer musicians will receive complimentary tickets for two to the Festival at Sandpoint concert of their choice.
