Patricia Anne Sauer, 78

| May 20, 2017 1:00 AM

Patricia Anne Sauer, 78 of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Bonner General Health. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many and will be dearly missed.

Patricia was born Feb. 4, 1939, in Sandpoint to Pearl and Jim April. During her school years in Sandpoint, Patricia was involved in many activities. While in the fourth grade, she won a reading contest and got to be featured on her own radio show, Kiddies Korner, where she read books to young children. She had many fond memories of this time. She was also involved in cheerleading, Pep Club, Honor Society, and the Red Cross. She loved to dance and never missed the opportunity to show off her moves. She also loved to sing with her sister, Nancy, and they even got to perform at a few Eagles Hall conventions.

One year after graduating high school Patricia married her high school sweetheart, Darold Jarvis Sauer in 1958. They had three sons, Rick, Kirk, and Craig. Pat loved her boys and considered them to be her greatest accomplishment. Patricia was a devoted wife and mother and worked hard alongside her family on the ranch in Sagle where they raised cattle.

She also enjoyed working in the Ben Franklin Store that she and her husband owned. Patricia enjoyed watching and cheering for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Seattle Mariners, and the Atlanta Braves. Every Thursday night you could find her at the local bingo hall where she volunteered and played for over 30 years.

Patricia’s family was the most important treasure to her. She doted on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild and looked forward to welcoming her second great-grandchild this summer. Pat was so proud of all of their accomplishments. She took in many of her children and grandchildren’s closest friends as her own and loved them all dearly. All were welcomed in her home.

Pat was an incredible person and friend to many. She endured great heartache and loss in her life, but it never hardened her heart. She lived simply and gave everyone all that she had, the best of which being her unconditional love and devotion. Her loss has left a great void in our hearts and she will forever be loved and missed.

Patricia is survived by her son Craig; daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren Jessica (Ryan) Pennick, Janelle (Luke) Schramm, Justin Sauer; and a great-grandchild, Khloe Schramm. She is also survived by her brother ,James (Sandra) April; sister Nanci Tullos; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Pearl April; her sons, Rick and Kirk Sauer; her sister, Naomi Townsend; her brother-in-law, Bill Tullos; and her nephew, Tim Townsend.
