James Roger Stark

| May 23, 2017 1:00 AM

Born on Aug. 23, 1937, Jim had a long and full life until his passing on May 4, 2017. He moved to the Sandpoint area in 1955 from his birthplace in University City, Missouri.

Jim spent many years working for the U.S. Forest Service in various facets of construction, repair and demolition. During this time he was a member of the Eagles, Masonic Order, Scottish Rite and Shrine. Once he stated that his work with Shrine Hospital for children was very gratifying.

He was married to Garnett Hunt from 1956 to 1977.

He married Elizabeth Green in 1977 and they enjoyed a long life until her passing in 2012.

After their retirements, Jim and Liz moved first to Brooks, Oregon, and then to Drain, Oregon. They were residing in Drain when they passed.

He was a loving father, devoted husband, a loyal conservative, and very well read.

One of his grandsons recently stated “that he talked to him like he was a man, yet filled him with childlike wonder.”

Jim is survived by his daughters, Ruby (and Stephen Enyeart of Chewelah, Wash.), and Virginia (and Hal Overland of Sandpoint); grandsons Hal James and Dirk Overland, James and Michael Holloway; his brother, Thomas (Barbara Stark of Naperville, Illinois).

He will be missed.
