Concerning the election May 16, 2017, beyond the usual “it’s for the kids,” “we have to properly spend the funds,” “I’m the best” and so on, I was really surprised by one statement regarding the large amount of funding in Michigan, New York and others with poor student results. (Hurrah, someone knew the facts.)

Topping the list of big spenders per student is Washington, D.C., where our politicians pour big money into the schools and there is the worst record of academic achievement. Is it any surprise that the politicos send their children to private schools? It was really great that the statistic was alluded to. Why waste time complaining about who voted for or against the levy? Those folks have their reasons. You had better examine the atmosphere at the students’ homes for the achievement in school.

Suggestion: Restrict letters to 150 words regarding elections. Or else let Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Lewis write the only letters as they covered the field for the levy beautifully and precisely.
