May 25, 1967 — NEW STEWARDESS

Miss Cheryl Ann Deshon of Sandpoint was recently presented her stewardess wings with Northwest Orient Airlines after completing five weeks specialized training at the airline’s training center at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Deshon, 215 Pacific, Ave., Miss Deshon is a graduate of Sandpoint Senior High and attended North Idaho Junior College.

HOLT NAMED TRANSPOTATION HEAD

Kenneth Holt, former Sandpoint businessman, was appointed supervisor of transportation, buildings and grounds for countywide School District No. 82 at a special meeting May 20. The appointment will be effective July 1, 1967, the beginning of the school district’s fiscal year.

Holt owned and operated the OK Rubber Co. here since 1949, selling out a little over a year ago to Jack Berger. Since then he has worked for a construction company as general foreman.

ALAN VAN STONE IS COMMISSIONED

Alan C. Van Stone, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester E. Van Stone, Hope, was commissioned an Army second lieutenant upon graduation from the engineer officer candidate school at Ft. Belvoir, Va. on May 5th.

COMMISSIONERS BUSY WITH FERRIES

None of the county commissioners went to church Sunday. Commissioners Prichard and Jagman were called to Priest River, where a log jam threatened the county bridge. A thousand finn-booms were rushed there from Clarksfork and the situation gotten in hand. At Laclede the ferry broke down and Commissioner McBride and Herb Webster got a new friction wheel and fixed up the ferry after a two days’ breakdown.

SIXTY-ONE EIGHT GRADE DIPLOMAS

There are 61 graduates from the eighth grade departments in Sandpoint district this year, and it is a remarkable fact that practically the entire list is exempt from final examinations because of high standing the past semester.
