SANDPOINT — For the fourth time in five years, the Sandpoint sirls cross country team earned a podium position at the 4A State Cross Country meet, held recently at Eagle Island State Park.

The Bulldogs placed third with 96 points, behind Skyline (54 points) and Twin Falls (58 points). Hannah Davidson led the girls with an 8th place finish in 19:35, Katherine Kaul returned from injury to place 14th in 19:57, and as they have done the entire season and for the past five years, the girls won on pack strength.

Kali Scheel was 23rd, running a 20:25, Ciera Bailey was 29th in 20:48, Heather Wallace was 30th in 20:51, Niah Brass was 31st in 20:51, and Farli Boden was 33rd in 21:00.

The boys team came up short of their state goal this weekend as lead runners Ephriam Weisz fought off sickness and Cole Dillon was tripped and took a hard spill just a half mile into the race, spraining his ankle. Dillon got up and pushed has way to the finish, leading the team in 40th place with a time of 17:35.

Garrett Pierce was next in 17:37, Brady Nelsen was 3rd on the team with a 17:51, Ephriam Weisz and Peik Lund-Andersen both finished in 17:54. Tyler McNamee and Kieran Wilder were the 6th and 7th runners.

The team will hold its annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 16.
