Winter sports season tips off tonight in Jamboree

| November 7, 2017 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Don’t look now sports fans, but right in time with the fresh coat of snow comes the winter sports season, which tips off tonight when the Sandpoint girls host Genesis Prep and Priest River in a three-team jamboree starting at 6 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.

For those who want a sneak peak at the Bulldog girls, who return a host of players off of last year’s third place team, they’ll face Genesis Prep at 6:45 p.m., followed by Priest River at 7:15 p.m. The Spartans and Jaguars will tip things off at 6 p.m.

Genesis Prep features 6-foot-4 junior Bella Murekatete, who averaged 22 points, 20 rebounds, five blocks and three steals last year in the North Star League.

The games will serve as a fundraiser for the Youth Endowment for Activities (YEA) Foundation, so state passes will not be accepted.

The Bulldogs tip off the regular season on Saturday, when they host annual 5A power Lake City.
