| November 15, 2017 12:00 AM

The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health is pleased to announce an open call for proposals under its new Employee Community Giving Fund, a health-focused charitable effort powered by Blue Cross of Idaho employees.

The Foundation for Health will use Community Giving Fund money, built upon financial contributions from Blue Cross of Idaho employees and dollar-for-dollar match contribution from the company, to donate more than $200,000 to Idaho-based nonprofits and organizations working on childhood obesity prevention, senior health, and women’s and children’s health. Organizations may submit proposals online starting today through January 12, 2018. Please visit https://www.bcidahofoundation.org/employeefund to learn more and to submit a proposal.

“Blue Cross of Idaho employees been incredibly generous, and this new fund will help ensure their generosity has the greatest possible impact,” said Kendra Witt-Doyle, executive director of Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, which will administer the program. “Our hope is that these funds serve as a catalyst for piloting and expanding innovative solutions to the complex health challenges facing Idaho.”

A committee made up of Blue Cross of Idaho employees will review each proposal, and grants will be awarded in April 2018.

“Giving back is a core value at Blue Cross of Idaho,” said Charlene Maher, president and CEO for Blue Cross of Idaho. “The launch of the Employee Community Giving Fund is a natural reflection of that belief. We couldn’t be more proud of our team.”
