| November 15, 2017 12:00 AM

John Franklin Pymm, 88, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017.

He was born January 16, 1929, to Frank and Myrza Pymm in St. George, Utah.

John’s family moved to Boulder City, Nev., where he went to high school, played basketball and dated his future wife, Patti Van Zant. After graduation, he and Patti married, he went into the U.S. Air Force and they began raising their three children, Pixie, Randy and Patrick, over the next seven years. They owned a landscaping business in Las Vegas that they both enjoyed and John did various other construction jobs, as well. After a few years they divorced and John moved to California and worked in construction for several years.

He then moved back to Las Vegas and married Thelma Guerrero. He maintained several properties, worked as a pit boss in several casinos on the Strip and enjoyed taking Thelma to all of her dancing performances she participated in. He and Thelma enjoyed traveling to different countries and he loved watching NASCAR races on TV. He always enjoyed telling stories of the interesting jobs he had done and the great people he had met, especially in Las Vegas during the early years. After Thelma passed away, John came to Sandpoint to be closer to his family.

He is survived by his children, Pixie (Yogi) Vasquez, Randy Pymm, and Patrick (Donna) Pymm; and grandchildren, Jarad Vasquez, Jeremy Vasquez, Matthew Pymm, Jennifer Pymm, Michelle Zeedyk and Stephanie Cash; two siblings, Arlene and Les Pymm; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrza Pymm; and three siblings, Wes Pymm, Keith Pymm and Elaine Long.

Thank you to all of those who helped care for our dad these past few years. You helped to make his life very special while living in Sandpoint.
