Sandpoint Special Olympians shine at Cd'A bowling tourney

SANDPOINT — A host of Sandpoint Special Olympians brought home medals after blasting the pins at the 2017 Special Olympis Bowling Tournament recently at Sunset Lanes in Coeur d’Alene, which drew more than 115 bowlers from the Panhandle.

Haley Thompson bowled a career best 141 for her second game, and joined teammates Mallory Gilchrist, Jackson Barth, Doug Tipton and Robert Hull to win first place in their respective divisions. Hull was one of the top bowlers at the tournament with a two game combined score of 313.

Shane Parson rolled 300 in his two games to join Caitlin Bayles and Jacob Tifft in winning second place in their divisions, Roy Burrow placed 3rd, Michelle Couldry, Bob Liectman and John Painter placed 4th, Missy Laker and Eliyah Allen eared 5th place, and Mathew Fresh earned a 6th place in his division.
