AHWF holding 'Beards for Bears' fundraiser

SANDPOINT — “Hey fuzz face...”

Do you want to say this to a certain someone? Is all you want for Christmas to see that one guy with chin whiskers? Perhaps you want your special fella to grow a beard but he has always rejected the thought? Maybe you have always wanted to see your coworker with a beard? Now is your chance to challenge them to a BEARDS for BEARS fundraising activity.

Beards for Bears is a fun and fuzzy for American Heritage Wildlife Foundation to raise funds for the needed Black Bear Enclosures. The fundraising program works like this: Ask the two legged Bruin to grow a beard for one week...if he accepts the challenge and sprouts whiskers, you donate $10. If he fails the challenge and shaves off the hair of his chinny chin chin, he donates $10. Extend the challenge for added furry fun – two weeks of growth = $20 donated, three weeks = $30. Continue the challenge as long as you both decide. If he makes it to Christmas and rivals the appearance of jolly St. Nicholas - the future Ursid patients say thank you for your tax deductible gift. If he already has a beard – challenge him to bare his chin & shave the beard or donate $10 for bears.

Information about American Heritage Wildlife Foundation can be found on the website ahwf.org. You can also follow your local wildlife rehabilitation facility on facebook or twitter as well as other social media sites. Call 208.266.1488 to speak with one of our volunteers.

AHWF.ORG is the only 501(c)3 nonprofit facility in the panhandle with USFWS & IDFG permits allowing rehab care for both birds and nongame mammals. Volunteers contribute over 3,000 hours & our community raises over $10,000 annually to help our mission to keep North Idaho WILD!
