SANDPOINT — Ayiana Prevost and Ara Clark led the Sandpoint Middle School Bullpup girls to their first cross country wins of the season recently at a meet at Travers Park. The Bullpups had a total score of 31, beating out Boundary County 41, Coeur d’Alene Charter, Kellogg and North Idaho Christian.

Prevost ran her best race of the season, placing 2nd overall. In just a short time, she has moved from SMS’s 4th runner to their first runner. Clark was 3rd and had her 2nd podium finish of the season. Both Clark and Prevost broke the 10 minute barrier, each setting a PR. Mackenzie Suhy was next in for the Bullpups in 6th for her 2nd podium finish of the season, and Maren Davidson came in 9th and had her first podium finish. Peyton Betz was next in 11th, to make up the scoring runners for SMS.

The SMS boys team put two athletes on the podium and took 2nd to Boundary County. Sandpoint scored 42, Boundary County 35. Ben Ricks won the race with a time of 8:47. Ricks has been on fire, placing 3rd in the first meet, winning the meet in Timberlake and then winning the home meet. Trey Clark has had an excellent level on consistency as well, placing 3rd on Saturday to make the podium for all three of this season’s meets.

The Bullpups had three new scoring runners on Saturday in Joseph Axel (12th), Caleb Roche (14th), and Davis Goodwin (23rd), with all three stepping up huge in the absence of other runners.
