Barry Dean Thomas, 85

Barry Dean Thomas, 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Sandpoint, Idaho, unexpectedly from a massive stroke. Private family services have been held.

Barry was born on June 8, 1932 in Hollywood, Calif., to William and Cherri Thomas. He graduated from North Hollywood High School before serving in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. He attended Valley College, where he met Carol Woodruff, and they were married on February 4, 1956 in North Hollywood.

Barry worked for 42 years as a sound mixer in the various studios in Hollywood and he was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. After retirement he moved to Sandpoint.

He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Cocolalla, the Experimental Aircraft Associ-ation, and was a docent at the Bird Museum. He enjoyed flying, boating, motorcycles, and tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Thomas of Sandpoint; three children, Cathy (Bill) Holl of Greensboro, Ga., Jennifer (Tony) Klemmer of Newport, Rhode Island, and Dean Milor Thomas of Calabasas, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Lindsay, Jack, Charlie, Ray, Danny, Ivy, and Olivia.
