Keith Eugene Johnson, 83

Keith Eugene Johnson, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Sandpoint Eagle’s Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 12-3 p.m.

Keith was born on July 1, 1934, in Flaxville, Mont., to George and Gunda Johnson. When he was 3 years old, he moved to Sandpoint, where he attended schools.

He married Betty Kom on July 31, 1954, in Thomp-son Falls, Mont. His career started with dam work; Albeni Falls, Cabinet Gorge, Noxon and Wanapum. He also painted the Moyie and Metaline Falls bridges. He worked for the shingle mill and for Pack River Lumber Co., retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 589 and Circle and Swing Square Dance Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, telling his great-grandkids stories, and playing poker and cribbage.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson of Sandpoint; three children, Shane (Lavar) Johnson of Sagle, Idaho, Marty (Lorraine) Johnson of Billings, Mont., and Melanie Johnson of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Jody, Brandon and Chirssy, Ethan and Lily, and Cody and Chandra; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mavis Walker of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Buff Johnson; two brothers, David and Lou Johnson; and sisters Deloris Schimmel, Lorraine Leone, and Wanita Rice.
