SANDPOINT — From serving as the race director for the Long Bridge Swim to serving on the finance committee of Sandpoint Waldorf School, Jim Zuberbuhler is dedicated to helping others.

It’s no wonder then that he was named by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce as its October Volunteer of the Month.

Chamber officials said that volunteers are essential to the success of the organization and, without the hard work and dedication of everyone, the organization could not accomplish all that it does.

“With that in mind, we want to thank those willing to go above and beyond to help our programs and events be successful,” said Kate McAlister, President and CEO of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

Zuberbuhler, who is an associate vice president and financial advisor with D.A. Davidson & Co., was selected for the honor because of his involvement with numerous non-profits in the area.

“He views his non-profit work as part of his personal mission including his professional life. I know he spends several days per week dedicated to his volunteer pursuits,” said Eric Grace, Kaniksu Land Trust Executive Director. “Most others segment their personal and professional lives, but to Jim this all part of what it means to be a productive citizen.”

Zuberbuhler serves on the board of Forrest Bird Charter School, Bonner County Communiversity, and the Eureka Institute. He is also the race director for the Long Bridge Swim, serves on the finance committee of the Waldorf School and is a member of the Sandpoint Rotary Club. Zuberbuhler also represents Forrest Bird Charter School on the Idaho PTECH Network.

“Jim is one of the most community-minded people I know and we all benefit from his expertise and involvement. I am proud to call him my friend,” said McAlister.
