Motorist is injured in Tuesday crash

PRIEST RIVER — A Priest Lake man was injured Tuesday in a crash on Highway 57, according to Idaho State Police

State police said Joseph W. Bopp was driving southbound when he went off the highway’s south shoulder. The 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck he was driving re-entered the roadway, but Bopp lost control and went of the north shoulder, where he struck a tree and a telephone pole.

Bopp, 69, was evacuated from the scene in a Lift Flight Network helicopter, which flew him to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene. State police said Bopp was wear a seatbelt.

The crash occurred approximately three miles north of U.S. Highway 2. The 12:15 p.m. crash intermittently blocked the highway so the crashed vehicle could be recovered, ISP said.
