Bulldog boys and girls dominate at Moscow Invite

MOSCOW — Garrett Bamer won the 100 free and Jacob Ballard won the 200 individual medley to lead the boys team, while Kate Bokowy won the 100 free and 200 IM and sister Payton the 50 free, as the Bulldog swim team dominated the competition on Saturday at the Moscow Invite at the University of Idaho Swim Center in Moscow.

The meet included Coeur d’Alene, Lake City and Moscow, and the Bulldogs took them all down in team scores. With abundant depth on both teams, the relays are as strong as they’ve been in years, and it showed with a host of wins.

“We had a great time down in Moscow,” claimed Bulldogs head coach Mike Brosnahan. “We beat everyone with combined boys and girls scores, and both boys and girls teams went undefeated.”

Ballard, Bamer, Charlie Wiesner and Miles Luce teamed up to win the 200 medley relay and finish second in the 400 free relay. The Bokowys teamed with Ellie McCray and Mikayla Schoening to win the 200 free relay, and the Bokowys and McCray teamed with Kaya Wright to finish third in the 200 medley relay. Charlie LeBlanc, Brianna Brosnahan, Catherine Kaul and Sydney Packer finished third in the 400 free relay.

Other top three individual finishes included Ballard (2nd 100 back), Wiesner (2nd in 100 fly, 3rd in 50 free) and Hayden Norling (3rd in 200 and 500 free) for the boys team, and Shoening (2nd in 50 free) and Sabrina Wilson (2nd in 100 breast) for the girls.

The Bulldogs are at the North Idaho Swimming Championships on Saturday, at noon at the Kroc Center. It’s the final regular season meet of the season, and the last chance for swimmers to hit state times and qualify for the state meet on Nov. 3.
