1: What inspired you to run for elected office?

I have attended Ponderay City Council meetings and have concerns on how things are done and money spent. "The Little City with a Big Future" has a lot of important issues facing it and needs council members with dedication and time to address topics.

2: What unique qualifications would you bring to office that no one else could match?

I was Ponderay City Clerk for 20 plus years and understand the workings of the city. I also have worked with local and state agencies and on the Bonner County Election Board. I am a charter member of Ponderay Rotary and volunteer for the accounting tables of Community Cancer Services and Kinderhaven.

3. What are the most important issues facing the community? Why?

Streets, property and parks. The streets are poorly maintained and the city has spent a lot of money on property for parks development. This property remains undeveloped and the city doesn’t have a plan for it. How can the city afford to develop and maintain parks when it can’t maintain the streets?

4. How do you plan to address these issues?

By working with the mayor and council to develop a plan for them and to implement the plan. The public also needs to be invited to be part of the decision-making process.

5. If elected, what legacy would you hope to create? Why?

To be part of the Ponderay City Council that treats everyone equally. My husband was raised here and we have lived here most of our 56 years of marriage. We raised our daughters here and it would be my hope that Ponderay could become an even better place to bring a business and raise a family.

6. How do you foresee your typical workday as an elected official?

I am retired and can give time needed to address issues. I plan to be accessible to the public to make sure that all good ideas are heard. I represent all Ponderay residents and no special interest groups.

7. What do you most look forward to after you are elected?

Working with the mayor, city clerk and council to make sure city government is representing all citizens. To uphold all federal, state of Idaho and city of Ponderay laws.

8. What’s the harshest criticism you expect to face on the campaign trail and how would you respond to such criticism?

I will address all concerns and issues that people have. As city clerk, I prided myself in solving problems and most people remember me for that. I take criticisms as a challenge for all of us to do better.

9. If you could only get one thing across to voters during your campaign, what would it be?

That everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect.

10. What question should every candidate be asked? What is your answer?

Have you attended Ponderay City Council meetings and what are your qualifications? My answer: I have attended many Ponderay City Council meetings and am familiar with the regulations and the ordinances.
