Community shines with plenty of fun things to do
SANDPOINT — OK, the skies are seriously besmirched with forest fire smoke, but the activities roll on in spite of it. Al Gore’s latest installment in the climate change awareness movement shows tonight and through the weekend at the Panida, along with a classic Jerry Lewis-Dean Martin comedy on the big screen both Friday and Saturday.
Also on Saturday, the Historic Walking Tour of Sandpoint queues up in front of the theater and, on Sunday, historian Nancy Renk leads walking tours of where Sandpoint’s classic theaters once stood.
And did we mention the bourbon tasting tonight at the 219? Or the live music all over town and Spokane Symphony’s season opener?

‘An Inconvenient Sequel’

Bourbon Tasting

By Act of Congress, September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, an observance in the U.S. that calls for celebration of bourbon as America’s ‘Native Spirit.’ Join Dean O. from Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits as he pours complimentary tastes of some of America’s top bourbons.

Mama Doll

You don’t want to miss this rare Sandpoint appearance by one of Spokane’s top bands, Mama Doll (featuring Sandpoint’s own Jen Landis) who will be playing a variety of indie-pop originals and covers.

Ron Greene
Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Ron has been a dynamic musical presence as a professional musician and solo artist, spending the last decade performing throughout the Northwest and West Coast.

Brian Jacobs

Honeysuckle ‘Homecoming’

Historical Walking Tour of downtown Sandpoint
Venue: Downtown Sandpoint (meet in front of the Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave.)

The city’s Historic Preservation Commission is hosting walking tours of downtown Sandpoint, using its publication, ‘Sandpoint – A Walk Through History’ as the guide.
