Can you turn a $9 domain name into a multi-million dollar company?

A few years ago I heard about Innovation Collective and their work in Coeur d’Alene, I was intrigued. Could the same formula that was part of helping Coeur d’Alene startup companies receive over $27,000,000 in investments and reshape its economy be used in Sandpoint to help foster a strong new startup-based economy as well?

We will find out Wednesday, Sept. 13, as I host the first of three Innovation Collective fireside chats at McDuff’s Beer Hall. These fireside chats are designed to be an evening where locals can be inspired by new ideas, develop new relationships with other entrepreneurs, and learn more by hearing the stories of successful business people who understand startups and technology. I will be interviewing local entrepreneur Luke Webster. Webster runs several internet marketing and ecommerce companies as well as some high profile domain names. Yes, he has turned a $9 domain name into a multimillion-dollar, Sandpoint-based company.

Come ready with your questions about budding a company like this, because we will host a 15-minute question-and-answer session.

The evening is free to the public includes free beer, wine and soft drinks, and starts at 6 p.m. at McDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., Sandpoint.
