n Strong serving helps Wampus Cats sweep Miners

CLARK FORK — Ellie Kiebert had a big night serving with six aces to go with six kills, and Brooke Stevens once again orchestrated the Wampus Cat offense with precision for 23 set assists, leading to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-11 sweep of Wallace in North Star League volleyball action Thursday night at Clark Fork High School.

Hailey Bristol added seven kills and five aces, Tessa Sutton and Grace Shelton each had five kills and Ali Sutton three as the Wampus Cats (7-1, 3-0) showed the depth that makes them tough to defend.

The first couple of sets were tight, but big service runs by three different players proved pivotal in the sweep.

“We went point for point with Wallace until Ellie came around the second time to the serving box and reeled off five straight points,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “The second set we again ran point for point with Tessa having a five point run in the middle of the set. The third set Hailey got up to serve and ran off eight points with several aces. The score was 12-6 and Wallace wasn’t able to recover.”

Clark Fork travels to face the Post Falls JV on Monday, before capping a busy week at Lakeside on Tuesday and Genesis Prep on Saturday.
