Glenda Amy McKinney, 78

Glenda Amy McKinney, 78, passed away in Toppenish, Wash., on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. (Montana time) on Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Heron Community Church in Heron, Mont. Interment will follow in the Heron Cemetery. Pastor Irene Anderson of New Life Fellowship in Thompson Falls, Mont., will be officiating.

Calling hours will from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Glenda was born in Egnar, Colo., on Feb. 5, 1939, and moved to Heron, Mont., as a child. She would attend school in both Heron and Noxon, Mont. She married Dave McKinney, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Jan. 11, 1956. She would follow her husband’s Army career for 21 years, living throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. Glenda raised the children and kept the family together while working as a telephone operator and as a cashier for K-mart.

The family returned to Sandpoint in 1975, later moving to North Dakota, the Yakima area, and Alaska living in Anchorage and Seward. She was known as the “frequent flyer” by her family, coming home to visit as often as possible. She would move back to Seattle and then to Toppenish in 2002, where she would live out her life.

Her family was her life, she enjoyed being a mom to her family and anyone else that needed a mom. Her hobby was collecting “old” country magazines, pictures, stories and recipes. She enjoyed singing country gospel with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dave McKinney in Toppenish; her children, Dave (and Lori) McKin-ney Jr. in Portland, Ore., and Kandy (and John) Schendel in New-castle, Wash.; three grandchildren, Brian McKinney, and Mandy and Melanie Schendel; a great-grandchild, Zaydie McKinney; her brothers, Larry Kardokus, Bill Kardokus and Ron Kardokus; her sisters, Sue Kardokus and Dixie Fisher; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sunshine Kardokus;and two brothers, Kenneth Goforth and Blackie Goforth.
