| January 3, 2018 12:00 AM

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David R. Walden in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Dec. 26, 2017.

David was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Aug. 12, 1987. David was the first-born of Richard Walden and Crystal Perry. He attended Farmin Stidwell and Sandpoint Middle School, where he was an avid soccer player and a member of the Strikers (number 13). David moved to Denver, Colo., at the age of 12 where he played baseball and hockey. He graduated from George Washington High School in 2005. Soon after graduating, he moved back to Sandpoint where he worked for Monarch Marble and Granite.

David was very active and enjoyed snowboarding, dirt biking, golfing, boating, frisbee golf, swimming, hiking, and softball. Due to his love of recreational activites, he was a frequent visitor to the local emergency room.

In 2014, David met Heidi Haas while playing softball together (he was short stop and she was third baseman). They spent a lot of time together and as their relationship grew they not only fell in love but became best of friends. In July 2017, David and Heidi were married and settled into their home in Sagle with their two dogs Blu and Scooter.

Many good times were spent with family and friends barbecueing after a day at the lake, sitting by the fire and enjoying each other’s company.

David was the oldest brother to six siblings and with his big heart and humor he touched the lives of every one of them including his many friends and family. He was always quick to laugh, tell the family he loved them, and crack a joke with his original sarcastic humor. We will smile when we think of the many special memories he gave us. David was a precious gift that we will never forget. He will be greatly missed until we meet again.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert “Bob” Walden Sr.m Loran and Ethel Balch, and Val Perry Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Walden (Haas) of Sagle; his parents, Richard (Kathy) Walden of Denver, and Crystal Perry (Troy Weill) of Sagle; brothers Decker Weill, and Garrett and Gunner Walden; sisters, Stephanni (Justin) Solomonand Kaitlyn and Ashley Walden; a niece, Harmony Smith; his grandmothers, Kathleen “Kay” Walden and Sandra Perry; and many aunts, uncles, cousins.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., Sandpoint, on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 1 p.m.
