With regard to Mr. Gooby’s letter to the editor, “Folks too busy driving to look at the roundabout art.”

I understand his frustration if one hasn’t seen or spent the time to admire all that art that is spread around Sandpoint. One definitely should take the time to look at the city art like the downtown fish arch, the entry sculpture when exiting off Highway 95, the granite bear, Jeff Jones Town Square, the sculptures and displays on Second and Third avenues along with the art on the Boyer roundabout.

These art pieces by various artists are brought to you through the work of volunteers on the Sandpoint Arts Commission. I know that Mr. Gooby is in a hurry like most of us, but he really should take the time to as they say, “stop and smell the roses.” We have a beautiful town and we are known as an art town, we all should take a little time to appreciate it.

With regard to the Boyer-Schweitzer Cutoff roundabout, my understanding is the money Mr. Gooby mentioned is dedicated to art and landscape under state code. I think we have an opportunity to put something pretty nice in that roundabout that will impress people entering and leaving Sandpoint.
