Chester Allen 'Chet' Haven Jr.

Chester Allen “Chet” Haven Jr., 71, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

An open house/celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 6 pm at Chet and his wife Mikey’s home, 396 Gold Creek Road, Sandpoint, Idaho.

Chet was born on August 26, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Chester and Bernadette Haven Sr. He grew up in Palo Alto, Calif., and graduated high school in 1964. Chet served his country in the United States Navy from 1967-1971 as a chef.

Chet married Vickie Davis on Feb. 27, 1972, in Orange, Calif. They raised two daughters in Southern California, where Chet worked as a salesman for Xerox Corp. They later divorced.

Chet married Melody Smith on May 15, 2004, in Redlands, Calif. He retired from Oce in 2005 and they moved to Sandpoint. Here he has been working for Sears for the past 10 years.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed classic cars, fishing, and listening to Tower of Power.

He is survived by his wife, Melody “Mikey” Haven of Sandpoint; two daughters, Laurie (Sean) Fox of Plainfield, Ill., and Lesley (Eric) Plummer of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; five granddaughters, Amelya, Molly, Norah, Katie, and Abby; and one sister, Sharon Clanin of Sun City West, Ariz.
