Gow seeking assessor's post

| January 31, 2018 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Donna Gow, a 27-year Bonner County Assessor’s office veteran, is seeking the GOP nomination for assessor, according to Dale Coffelt, her campaign manager.

“Her demeanor, knowledge of all aspects of the office and experience in the field make Donna the perfect candidate,” Coffelt said. “Donna already ‘walks the walk’ with the training she has. She will be stressing fairness and equal accountability.”

Gow will be transparent, and she and her office will be available to the public. In addition, there will be continuing training for the office staff, Coffelt said.

Gow moved to the Hope/Sandpoint area in 1980. She worked at the Hi Hopes Market, and as a Realtor for Century 21, for four years, under Val Kidd.

She joined the Bonner County Assessor’s Office in 1990; working for former Assessor Tim Cochran. She has worked for five different assessors, gaining valuable experience. She has over 500 hours of appraisal education through IAAO, the international association of assessing officers and training sessions through North Idaho College and other institutions.

Gow and her husband, George, raised two responsible sons in Bonner County who now have careers and families of their own. Gregg Gow, longtime U.S. Air Force veteran is superintendent of the 8th Field Investigation Region. Michael Gow is a battalion chief with Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS.

Gow said her close-knit family encouraged her bid for the assessor position. Coffelt will manage her campaign election committee with support from Scott Hancock as treasurer and Colleen Spickelmire as accounting assistant.
