Loretta Ann (Hetland) Stevens, 73

Longtime Sandpoint, Idaho, resident Loretta Ann (Hetland) Stevens passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

She was 73.

Loretta was born on Sept. 18, 1945, in Desborough, England, to Lowell C. And Cynthia M. (Greene) Hetland.

She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1964 and later went to beauty college, where she received a license in cosmetology.

On Oct. 4, 1965, Loretta married the love of her life, John A. Stevens, of Sandpoint. Together, they have shared the last 53-plus years, facing life’s joys and heartaches side by side.

During her life, Loretta enjoyed being with her family, riding horses, caring for various pets, painting, crafts and photography.

Loretta is survived by her husband, John, and their two daughters, Cassandra (Ann) Stevens Cridland (Wayne) and Sherry Lynn (Galloway) Stevens, both of Sandpoint.

She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Mike Hetland of Sandpoint/Newfolden, Minn.; and her sister, Patricia Moss of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Cynthia Hetland, and her brother, Darrell Hetland of Newfolden.

Loretta was deeply loved by those who knew her and will be greatly missed.

A remembrance service is to be held at a later date.
