Summer fun continues at The Library

| August 2, 2019 1:00 AM

I’m not sure how or why, but August has happened. That means one more month of summer, at least for those who are — or have kids in school.

The Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Challenge is also coming to a close soon. On Wednesday, August 7th, the Sandpoint and Clark Fork libraries will host Summer Reading Finale parties for those who participated in the challenge this year. Each library is planning different activities, but both will celebrate your reading accomplishments and those of your family. Keep those kids reading all summer, though. Kids can continue to earn free books all summer long.

On Aug. 8, teens will get their turn to celebrate a summer of reading with the Teen Summer Reading Landing Party. Teen challenge participants will want to be there to see if their name is called in one of several prize drawings. Kimber will be serving ice cream.

A great way to squeeze those last few books in for the challenge is to shop at the monthly Friends of the Library book sale. I hear they have a huge selection of non-fiction and children’s books.

They’ll be featuring cookbooks at half price, and media at ten cents each, as well as specially-priced sets of mysteries and fiction.

The Summer Reading Challenge — and summer — may be heading out the door, but by all means, keep reading! And keep enjoying every last morsel of summer in Sandpoint.

The following classes and events take place at the East Bonner County Library District Sand-point Branch, 1407 Cedar St. unless otherwise indicated. The monthly calendar can be viewed at ebonnerlibrary.org.
