| August 21, 2019 1:00 AM

While the North Mill Creek Road Fire is contained, it is not controlled, Northeast Washington Incident Management Team said in a press relase. That means area residents will continue to see visible smoke as unburned islands within the interior of the fire continue to burn.

Crews will remain on the fire and will continue working on hot spots and monitoring the fire until it is controlled, officials said in the release.

Firefighters that have been working on the fire have transferred command to the Colville National Forest’s Three Rivers Ranger District last Thursday. A detailed plan of actions has been developed should the fire rekindle and pose a threat to people or property, officials said.

The fire, which burned a total of 429 acres, was located about 12 miles northast of Colville, Washington. Crews responded to the scene Aug, 8, when the fire was reported, containing in four days later.
