TEENAGE WAITRESSES SURPRISE BOSS

“Teenagers are all right,” remarks W.D. “Dub” Lewis after being surprised with a birthday cake Friday at his business, the Dari-Delite.

Most of the crew of 11 teenage girls who work at the Dari-Delite were on hand to sing “Happy Birthday” to Lewis and present him with a birthday cake. They got the cake ready, decorated the building with balloons, and called Lewis at home to tell him the slush machine was not working. When he went down to the drive-in, he found a birthday party. Girls employed at the Dari-Delite are Susan Johnson, Trudy Keaton, Chris Faux, Ann Eitzman, Cherrie Peterson, Sally Moon, Debbie Phillips, Kathy Batt, Leslie Tatterson, Jill Messman and Judy Bader.

Lewis resigned as assistant police chief early this year to open the drive-in. His age is a secret unless you want to believe his professed “18.”

SECURE GROUND FOR TOURIST PARK

At the meeting of the civic club Monday afternoon Mrs. Wheelan reported that the commercial club had appointed a committee to act with the civic club in the effort to provide a better tourist camping ground, and that additional ground had been secured at the lake front between second and Fourth avenues, where some of the men of the commercial club had been at work evenings putting the ground in shape for the use of campers. Use of this ground is secured for this season only.
