Come thee and partake in some stellar summer fun

SANDPOINT — There’s the slightest whiff of fall in the air after a stellar summer of fun. The new season is rolling in with a bang, with great outdoor events and some annual favorite activities that have become iconic for good reason.

This weekend, plan to attend the Funky Junk Antique Show & Craft market, held both Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds. Also happening Saturday and Sunday, it’s the 3rd annual Sandpoint Renaissance Faire, just a couple miles east of Ponderay on Shingle Mill Road.

Starting tonight and running through Labor Day, the Panida is showing Quentin Tarantino’s latest, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’ And, as always, local watering holes and pubs are brimming with live music.

Thursday, Aug. 29

‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Quentin Tarantino’s ninth feature film is a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor... Sharon Tate.

The Last Revel

Venue: Utara After Hours, Utara Brewing Co., 214 Pine St., in Sandpoint.

Time: Doors open at 8 p.m.

The Last Revel makes a long-awaited stop in Sandpoint. Based in the Twin Cities, they are bringing their Front Porch Americana to town. From Red Ants Pants to NWSS, Blue Ox to Boats and Bluegrass, touring with big acts, they are a premier act you will not want to miss!

Casey Ryan

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 8-11 p.m.

Ryan, an indie singer-songwriter out of the Pacific Northwest, has performed and toured with globally touring artists such as James Bay, Third Eye Blind, Dashboard Confessional, and more.

Baldy Mountain Boys & Yappy Hour

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 4-7 p.m.

A tail-waggin’ good time! Bring your dog and enjoy a Panhandle Animal Shelter benefit with live music by the Baldy Mountain Boys.

Scott Reid

Friday, Aug. 30

Erisy Watt Trio

Venue: Pend d’Oreille Winery, 301, Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Erisy Watt is a Nashville-raised, Indie Folk artist who currently resides in Portland. Her music and songwriting find solace at the intersection of art and science. With an enchanting voice and inspiring lyrics, Watt hopes to continue to celebrate and shed light on the beauty of existence.

The Working Spliffs

Venue: 219 Lounge, 219 First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 9 p.m.

This five-piece Spokane based band features a horn section, two bass players, versatile guitar work, and harmony vocals. Formed in 1999, Working Spliffs began as a reggae band and has evolved into a group that incorporates elements of reggae, Ska, Blues, R & B, Psychedelic Rock, and Jazz. Just when you think you’ve figured out what’s next, you’ll get a surprise!

Baker Thomas Packwood

Venue: MickDuff’s Beer Hall, 220 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 6-8 p.m.

These three musicians encompass 90 percent of the bands in Sandpoint and they’re teaming up for good times and good vibes.

Turnspit Dogs

Venue: Idaho Pour Authority, 203 Cedar St., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 31

Sandpoint Renaissance Faire

Good day, well met! Prithee attend this lively and most wondrous third annual Sandpoint Renaissance Faire. Cometh and visit thy Majesty the Queen at the joust, harken to our tune, dance around the maypole with the fair maidens of the land, sup and feast thyself on turkey legs, partake in unique merchants, and quench thy thirst in the beer garden, Huzzah! We dissemble for thy humour! Sponsored by the Sandpoint Renaissance Association, a 501(c3) nonprofit.

Shop treasures, crafts and visit with friendly faces; find everything from salvage to retro and anything in between at more than 100 booths of select vendors. Plus, there’s a special tribute this year to the faithful Forest Service firefighters and live music on Saturday by Bridges Home!

This father-daughter duo always packs the house and captivates with lovely harmonies, favorite songs, and instrumental talent.

Bright Moments

Bright Moments is back at the 219 for some great jazz with Arthur Goldblum and Friends. You never know what to expect from this talented group of Sandpoint local musicians as they entertain you with everything from jazz to ska to blues-inspired music.

Annie Welle is a local, talented Jazz pianist.
