Remember our seniors during the holiday season

| December 10, 2019 12:00 AM

This is a plea to the community for help. The Sandpoint Senior Center is in urgent need right now. We recently mailed out a “holiday letter” asking for help from the community for the senior center and DayBreak Center. The letter stated that while we all love to support animals and children during the holiday season, our seniors also need your support. Many of you reached into your pockets and sent in donations, but we are seriously concerned about our finances.

Did you know: We served over 27,000 meals last year (home delivery and in-house meals). Often the only contact seniors have is when their meals are delivered by our wonderful volunteers. The center provides a meeting place for seniors to enjoy card games, play pool, socialize with friends and so much more.

DayBreak Center provides support for families who care for those with dementia, Alzheimer’s and memory issues. You can bring your loved one, knowing that they will be well cared for in an engaging, homey atmosphere. DayBreak allows the caregivers to have time for themselves. Come visit DayBreak to see how we can help you.

If you tossed the letter asking for your help, please rethink your decision. Checks may be sent or taken to the senior center (SASi) at 820 Main St., Sandpoint, ID 83864. Please call 208-263-6860 if you wish to donate by credit card.

Please don’t forget the seniors during this holiday season.
